Specialist Day Clinics

In 2007, clinicians in PASADA observed that a high number of clients attending medical services were suffering from diabetes and hypertension. These conditions were also observed in many of the elderly guardians of OVC supported by PASADA.

The decision was therefore taken to initiate specialist clinics for clients and caregivers suffering from these two conditions and the clinics started in December 2007. They run on a once a month basis and each one is managed by two clinicians and two nurses, all of whom have undergone specific training.

Apart from routine investigations and medication given to clients, they also receive health education on how to manage their conditions. Those requiring advanced management of their conditions are referred to higher level facilities.

From November 2008 onwards, specialists in the fields of Paediatrics and Dermatology will also attend clients in PASADA on a monthly basis.
